Shambala Private Game Reserve
Rates
Rates are quoted inclusive of VAT.
Rates are quoted in South African Rand per person, based on double (sharing) or single occupancy per chalet.
The above rates for chalets are per person and are inclusive of luxurious accommodation, all meals, refreshments on game drives and a selection of local beverages and wines. Imported beverages, wines and champagnes will be charged additionally. The rates are inclusive of the following activities: game drives, bush picnics, elephant back safari, sunset cruises and star-gazing.
Shambala Private Game Reserve reserves the right to amend the rates to reflect any adjustments to the rate of VAT levied, or any levies imposed by government or any other authorised body, or due to strategic financial considerations by Shambala Private Game Reserve, notifying the Company in writing with 30 days notice prior to date of amendment.
It is Shambala Private Game Reserve’s policy that chalets may have a maximum of two occupants.
Shambala Private Game Reserve does not permit children under the age of 12 years on the reserve.
Children 12 years and above need to be accommodated in own chalet and pay adult rate.
Shambala Private Game Reserve shall not be held responsible/liable for losses or damage suffered by the Company as a result of a failure by any of its clients to perform their obligations to the Company, nor shall Shambala Private Game Reserve be obliged to refund the Company any payments or prepayments in the event that the Company fails to collect fees or other payments from any of its clients.
Check-in time is 14h00. Check-out time is 11h00. Earlier check-in times, if requested, will be considered subject to the availability of chalets. In all instances, expected arrival times should be advised, particularly arrivals after 15h00.
Shambala Private Game Reserve reserves the right to amend its policies, terms and conditions for reservations for reasons beyond Shambala Private Game Reserve’s control.
Payment Policy
We require a credit card or direct deposit to secure your reservation. Cancellation fees will apply as follows:
- 50% deposit payment with booking and balance payment is required 30 days prior to arrival.
- For bookings of 4 (four) or more rooms, full prepayment is required 60 days prior to arrival.
- Cancellation policy:
- 50% of rate if cancelled less than 60 days prior to arrival.
- 100% of rate if cancelled less than 30 days prior to arrival.
Shambala Private Game Reserve reserves the right to release any reservation without further notice or hindrance should the above requirements not be met. Thereafter chalets will be subject to availability if re-requested.
In the event that accounts are not settled as previously negotiated, rates applicable to this agreement will be withdrawn and Rack Rates will be charged. In such instances, all reservations will have to be prepaid in full and rates will be 10% commissionable.
All guests will be required to settle their accounts of extras, activities, telephone calls, beverages, laundry, etc. upon check-out, either by credit card or local currency notes, unless the voucher indicates to the contrary.
In the case of provisional reservations held whilst no payments are due yet, based on Shambala Private Game Reserve’s payment policy, the Company is required to notify Shambala Private Game Reserve in writing immediately, once it is known if such provisional reservation will be no longer required.

Should the Company make payment to Shambala Private Game Reserve using a credit card, Shambala Private Game Reserve shall levy an additional charge of 4% of the total payment due, to cover administration and bank commission charges.
Any and all charges incurred in making the payment due by the Company to Shambala Private Game Reserve shall be borne by the Company, irrespective of mode or form of payment made.
Proof of payment and reservation details should be sent to Shambala Private Game Reserve to confirm such payment.
The onus is on the Company to ensure payment is effected and to confirm payment details directly to Shambala Private Game Reserve.
Should the Payment Policy not be met, Shambala Private Game Reserve reserves the right to cancel or release the reservation without notice or hindrance.
Reductions and Cancellations
Any reduction or cancellation in rooms might be subject to a cancellation charge.
Cancellation policy for reservations of 4 chalets or less:
- 25% of rate if cancelled less than 30 days prior to arrival.
- 50% of rate if cancelled less than 20 days prior to arrival.
- 75% of rate if cancelled less than 14 days prior to arrival.
- 100% of rate if cancelled less than 7 days prior to arrival.
Groups (5 chalets or more) full prepayment 60 days prior with full cancellation fee.
Furthermore, a cancellation charge of 50% shall apply to event, food, beverage and equipment hire costs incurred by Shambala Private Game Reserve as a result of such reduction or cancellation.
